CIS Promotions and Solidarity Crafts Coordinator

CIS is looking for a person to promote our programs, with the goal of economic sustainability of the Spanish and English Language Schools and to coordinate the CIS Solidarity Craft program and the development of Salvadoran artisan workshops to promote fair trade and quality Salvadoran crafts.   We need someone with creative lay out, excellent writing, and web site page management skills with attention to detail to fill the position of: Promotions and Solidarity Crafts Coordinator.

The CIS Missionis to promote solidarity and exchange between Salvadorans and other peoples of the world, which includes accompaniment, respect for diversity, equitable relations and mutual support among human begins.  The CIS also works to raise consciousness and to organize and mobilize towards social and economic justice and human dignity, through programs such as Delegations and Brigades, Solidarity Partners, Grassroots Organizing, Salvadoran Enterprises for Women, Youth Scholarship and Leadership Formation, the Mélida Anaya Montes Language School, Solidarity Crafts, and our International Election Observer Mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain promotional strategies and materials for the Spanish and English schools to be self-sustaining.
  • Maintain daily e-mail correspondence with potential Spanish students, artisan inquiries, answer and /or direct other institutional correspondence.
  • Coordinate with the Spanish School Coordinator as well as other staff members to respond in an appropriate manner.
  • Carry out and coordinate correspondence and payments with online Spanish classes.
  • Update web page, Facebook and the blog with information from the different CIS programs.  
  • Write and send out bulletins and information in a timely manner through email marketing program (VerticalResponse).
  • Manage and update email list serve and data base.
  • Support the logistical coordination of bi-annual fundraising letter.
  • Design and layout, together with the Director and other staff members, CIS promotional brochures.
  • Maintain an inventory of promotional materials, packets and make sure they are updated as needed.
  • Translate promotional and fundraising materials, such as reports, from Spanish to English in coordinator with the director and other areas.
  • Communicate with customers, keep artisan profiles and products up to date on our online store, and product display and distribution.
  • Plan and execute annual workshop for artisans, and supervise and support annual summer intern.
  • Promotion and marketing of artisan products: creation of promotional materials, outreach to potential fair trade partners and customers.
  • Technical support for the CIS’s computers and communications.
  • Support with the English School volunteer institutional relations and communications
  • Other tasks assigned by the CIS Director.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate support for the mission of the CIS and solidarity
  • Excellent written communication skills in English (indispensable)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Ability to update web page and respond to email correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Ability to respond to email correspondence immediately or in a timely manner.
  • Ability to receive and complete orders for crafts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and work as a team.
  • Knowledge and Ability to manage social media accounts
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Publisher, programs to create and/or edit websites, and maintain list serve updated.
  • Studies and/or Experience: Degree in Communications, Administration, English or similar areas of studies or experience.
